So you have decided to buy a digital camera for your kids? Well I am here to tell you that this can be just as hard as looking for a camera for your self. Digital cameras for kids have almost as many choices and you need to decide what features are important to you because there are many to choose from. So let’s try and narrow down your search.

You need to take the following 4 factors into account, their age, what features the camera offers, the price, and the way the child will use the camera. As a general rule kids love to take pictures, years ago they could only hold up a toy camera and pretend to take a photo, but as the digital cameras have become so inexpensive and easy to use many children will now have a real camera at a very young age. Since you do not have to spend money developing the photos this is a great gift to get any child.

Fisher price actually makes a model for children as young as 2 yrs old! Once you have narrowed down your search there are a couple of things you need to consider. Make sure you are getting the best camera within your price range. How much the cost of the batteries are, sometime with kids this can get very expensive so try and find a camera that has reasonably priced batteries. For older kids you want a camera that has expandable memory so the camera does not become obsolete. Most everything you need will come with your camera but always check what is included just in case you have to purchase an accessory separately. At a minimum they should include battery charger, memory card, a case, flash, and the software you will need to transfer the photos on to your computer.
