 Digital Camera's for Kids

Our website has everything you need to make an informed decision about purchasing an inexpensive digital camera

So you have decided to buy a digital camera for your kids? Well I am here to tell you that this can be just as hard as looking for a camera for your self. Digital cameras for kids have almost as many choices and you need to decide what features are important to you because there are many to choose from. So let’s try and narrow down your search.

You need to take the following 4 factors into account, their age, what features the camera offers, the price, and the way the child will use the camera. As a general rule kids love to take pictures, years ago they could only hold up a toy camera and pretend to take a photo, but as the digital cameras have become so inexpensive and easy to use many children will now have a real camera at a very young age. Since you do not have to spend money developing the photos this is a great gift to get any child.

Fisher price actually makes a model for children as young as 2 yrs old! It is called the Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera - Pink with Accessory Bundle and Free Toy for Girls and the Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera - Blue with Accessory Bundle and Free Toy for Boys Here is a description from the manufacturer’s website:

The award-winning and best-selling Kid Tough Digital Camera was the first preschool appropriate digital camera that was tough and easy enough to stand up to rough preschooler use. The Camera has an easy-to-use format and simple buttons while also featuring a 1.5” color LCD preview screen which allows kids to instantly see the picture they’ve taken and view or delete previous shots, Image resolution of 1.3 or .3 Megapixels(user selected) for quality 4”x6” prints, Auto-flash, 128MB of Flash memory for storing up to 500 pictures, USB Cable for computer connection, dual handle grips, and a 2-eye view finder that makes it easy for kids to take great pictures.

Another preschool camera is from Vtech and it is called the Kidzoom, it has 2x zoom, 256 MB of memory and a movie mode with sound. Here is a description from their website:

There’s a binocular-style optical viewfinder plus a preview screen that works with a D-pad (direction keys) to serve up five surprisingly fun arcade-style games. An onboard photo editor transforms photos into jigsaw puzzles, and — surprisingly — the photos aren’t too bad.

Once you have narrowed down your search there are a couple of things you need to consider. Make sure you are getting the best camera within your price range. How much the cost of the batteries are, sometime with kids this can get very expensive so try and find a camera that has reasonably priced batteries. For older kids you want a camera that has expandable memory so the camera does not become obsolete. Most everything you need will come with your camera but always check what is included just in case you have to purchase an accessory separately. At a minimum they should include battery charger, memory card, a case, flash, and the software you will need to transfer the photos on to your computer.
